Hearne Real Estate
Hearne is one of the most charming and picturesque cities in Robertson County, Texas. As a small community, Hearne boasts all of the natural beauty and attractions that you would expect from the beautiful state of Texas -- and with the safety and security that can usually only be found in small towns. This proud and statuesque city was originally named for a family who settled in the general area in the 19th century and proceeded to promote the construction of rail lines throughout the city.
Hearne has a rich and robust history, and is located on land that originally belonged to the Texas politician and soldier, Jose Francisco Ruiz. By the middle of the 19th century, there was a tavern standing in town, which also served as the post office and a general store. Shortly thereafter, the Hearne family moved into the area and purchased an enormous plot of land, planting and farming cotton crops. Eventually, Christopher C. Hearne decided that he would like to have a rail system running through the town; unfortunately, the Civil War began before construction on the railroad could begin. Later, after the war, his widow donated a large portion of land to the Houston and Texas Central Railway.
Once the railway was underway and a depot was constructed, commerce in the city truly began to grow and thrive. There were soon saloons, a hotel, several churches and a cotton gin in Hearne. During World War II, there was a prison camp that operated nearby the city, which housed several thousands of German prisoners of war. After the war, agricultural and manufacturing industries were taking shape in Hearne, and the population continued to grow.
As part of the Bryan-College Station metro area, Hearne real estate boasts a close proximity to all things Texas A&M. But if you think that Hearne real estate is just for college students, think again! While it is true that Bryan-College Station features plenty of student residents, Texas A&M is so much more than just a place to learn. It is also one of the largest employers in the area, and gives many a reason to call our fair city home.
No matter what type of home you are looking for when searching Hearne real estate and the surrounding areas, rest assured that you are sure to find it. The area has luxury apartments, perfect for students, young professionals, and retirees, as well as traditional single-family homes and luxury estates -- and everything in between. The homes here can be found in a wide variety of styles and price ranges, meaning that there truly is something for everyone here.
